I got a scenario and would like your honest opinion>>

1.) Its Aug. 2001 Sox/Yanks are interupted on TV.George Bush comes on TV and announces to the American public that the US has just invaded Afghanistan.
2.)A month later 9/11 happens just like it did that same day.While the US is trying to root out the taliban.
2a.)9/11 never happens OBL and the planners of 9/11 are either caught or are still on the run.

What would your reaction have been pre 9/11 invasion??

Mine would have been ...that fxckin Bush I should have never voted for him causing a war like that what are those ragheads going to do to us?throw camel shitballs at us?

2.) If Bush didn't start fxckin with those ragheads this would not have happened.

2a) (9/12) what a beautiful day in NY..nice time to take ride down and get my mind off this Afghnistan bullshit that Bush dreamed up.

To be fair I would have said the same thing about Clinton except 3 times more skeptical.

Regarding the scenario I imagine that the vast majority of the American public would be outrage. Nevertheless, Bush or Clinton wouldn't have to invade Afghanistan to capture Bin Laden pre 9/11. The best solution would have been much better intelligence, less beaurocracy behalf of the FBI regarding passing warning through the chain of command, and several tomahawk cruise missiles followed by a daisy cutter or two.

Had the US aggressively attempted to kill Bin Laden instead of the Clinton administration requiring capture as the imperative, he would likely have been dead before 9/11.

9/11 was a necessary evil, unfortuneately. There are too many people who can't make a decision past their next meal and this attack was one way to focus their attention on the seriousness of Islamic fundamentalism.

9/11 is not a necessary evil because the threat of terrorism has always been present since the twin bombings of two U.S. embassies, the car bomb in the World Trade Center, and the USS Cole.

If you think the American people were gung ho for an armed conflict against terrorism then you're kidding yourself. The Cole attack got some media attention but within the week they moved on. My post wasn't meant to praise 9/11 but to expose the shortsightedness of the American people.

My point is who knows how much trouble might be saved by taking care of Iraq,Saddam was a WMD on his own and he wasn't going away because 2 sons who were just as bad were on the on deck circle...I think this just the end of the beginning of about a 10 year war.

I agree with you Pat that we had to do it sooner or later. I just don't think the arrogance that our "leaders" display is doing us any good. I also think that religious fundamentalist weather they be Jewish or Christian are being manipulated by the real "powers that be."
